1. Information We Collect
Account Information
We collect basic information needed to create and manage your account, including your name, email address, and account preferences. Payment information is processed securely through trusted third-party payment providers. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from the identity provider.
Usage Information
We automatically collect certain technical information when you use our service, such as IP address, browser type, device information, and app version.
Message Privacy & Data Storage
AI Polyglot does not permanently store, save, or log any of your message content. Messages are processed in real-time for translation. Translation results are temporarily cached to improve performance and reduce redundant processing; cached translations are automatically deleted after a short period. No original message content is stored beyond this temporary cache. We maintain only essential metrics (such as request response times and error rates) to ensure service quality and performance. All data is encrypted and stored securely, and only encrypted communications are sent to and from our servers.
Browser Extension — Local-Mode Processing
When using Local-Mode in the browser extension, your messages never leave your browser. All translation processing happens locally on your device using downloaded AI models. No message data is sent to our servers or any third-party services. Local-Mode is a browser-extension-only feature and is not available in the mobile app.
Mobile App (iOS and Android) — WhatsApp Session & Data
When you use the AI Polyglot mobile app, your WhatsApp account is linked directly on your device using WhatsApp's built-in "Link with phone number" feature. You enter your phone number in the app, and WhatsApp shows you an 8-character code that you paste into your WhatsApp settings. Specifically:
- Your WhatsApp session credentials, chat history, and message store live entirely on your device. They are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
- When a message is translated, only the message text is sent to our translation service. We do not receive your WhatsApp credentials, contact identifiers, or chat metadata along with it.
- Translation results are cached transiently by the hash of the input text so the same phrase isn't re-processed. The cache is not linked to your account and is automatically evicted after a short period.
- Your language preferences and app settings are stored locally on your device.
Unlinking WhatsApp in the app deletes the session from your device. Deleting your AI Polyglot account does not affect your WhatsApp account or data.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely for authentication, providing the translation service, and improving service quality. We do not use your message content for training AI models or for any purpose other than providing the translation you requested.
3. Data Protection
We implement comprehensive security measures to protect your data, including secure API connections for communications. All account data is stored encrypted at rest. Our infrastructure uses industry-standard protection measures, and access to sensitive data is strictly controlled. Requests from the mobile app to our translation and account services are authenticated with bearer tokens over TLS. Your on-device WhatsApp session is protected by WhatsApp's own end-to-end encryption and never reaches our servers.
4. Data Sharing
We share your information only in specific, limited circumstances: with essential service providers (including Anthropic for cloud translations and Stripe for payment processing), when required by law, during corporate transactions (such as a merger), or with your explicit consent. We never sell your personal data to third parties.

- Delete your account and associated data from the app settings or website dashboard
- Unlink WhatsApp at any time from the mobile app, which clears the session from your device
- Opt-out of non-essential communications
- Withdraw consent for data processing
6. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain essential service functionality, ensure security, authenticate users, and analyze service performance. The mobile app uses standard on-device storage (e.g., UserDefaults on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android) to store your language preferences and session token. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings, though this may affect certain features.
7. Third-Party Services
Our service integrates with various third-party providers. Their services are governed by their own privacy policies and terms of service:
- Anthropic — Cloud translation processing (browser extension and mobile app)
- Stripe — Payment processing
- Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — Authentication
- WhatsApp — Messaging platform. The mobile app links to your WhatsApp account on-device using WhatsApp's built-in Linked Devices feature; we never host your WhatsApp session.
8. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in different countries where we or our service providers operate.
9. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Message content is not permanently stored — translation results are temporarily cached to improve performance, after which they are automatically deleted. We do not retain WhatsApp session data because the mobile app keeps your WhatsApp session entirely on your device. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed, though we may retain anonymized usage metrics for service improvement.
10. Policy Updates
We may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Significant changes will be communicated through email notifications, website announcements, or application notices. Continued use of our service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Data Processing by Anthropic
When using cloud translation mode (in both the browser extension and the mobile app), your messages are processed by Anthropic's AI models. In accordance with Anthropic's Commercial Terms:
- Message data is processed solely to provide translation services
- Data is not retained or used to train AI models
- Processing is subject to Anthropic's data protection standards and security measures
- You maintain ownership of your content and any translations generated
- Data processing is conducted in compliance with applicable data protection laws

13. Browser Extension — Local Translation Models
The browser extension's local translation mode uses WebLLM. When using local mode:
- All processing happens directly in your browser
- No message data is sent to our or any third party servers
- Model weights are downloaded and stored locally in your browser
- Translation quality and speed may vary based on your device's capabilities
Local translation mode is a browser-extension-only feature. The mobile app uses cloud translation exclusively — your WhatsApp session still stays on your device, but message text is sent to our translation service for processing.
